All day purification
This event is part of October 2024 Silent immersion retreat
Show event seriesPurification is an unaltered state of relaxation devoid of attachment.
It is there all of the time.
It is where all paths and practices, including meditation, end.
Love is the only purification.
No observer or observed. Just pure being.
The presence of you.
Not understanding, we search for answers ... outside.
Meanwhile absolutely everything you experience arises from and disappears back into calm open brightness.
We tend to think that it is certain things or people which pull us in and then give us difficulties.
But it is the hooking on in the first place - to those people and things - which pulls us in and causes trouble.
What is that?
There is nothing wrong with the things or the people in and of themselves until we tangle with them in the wrong way.
Meanwhile it is best not to get too far into what the 'hooking on' actually is. It is simply obeying its own nature: replicating the same action over and over again - in relation to anyone and everything it touches.
Why does it do this? It is obeying the law of nature. It is arising in the mirror of existence, just like any and everything else.
And, unlike other things, the 'hooking on' needs the power of the display of the mirror so it can take life. Unable to take form by itself, it must become attached to a physical body- or object-image, already self-arising in this reality, linked to an infinite source.
We get drawn into that 'hooking on.' Why is this?
Because it appears to be just as real as everything else we experience. It can give us more sense of solidity and make us feel more substantial in the face of the transience and uncertainty of things.
It make us feel more powerful: it appears to enable us to achieve more things because of the way it piggybacks on people and things, combining their weight, abilities and their momentum.
We also do not even notice this 'hooking on' happens or realise it is there. We always put trouble down to someone or something we are already tangling with - rather than the 'hooking on' itself. So we always miss it completely!
This is very precious knowledge.
Suffice to say this 'hooking on' is there in us already, part of the technology of the slave self. When we realise that this is what it does, we remain still. Then it purifies. It does not get to hook onto anything because no one accepts or rejects it.
It drowns in the brightness and is naturally released. Then there is the natural, perpetual liberation which always is: an enormous clarity transmitted as universal light.
This is the mechanism of purification which each and every one of us has from Day 1. Our own natural ability to purify can transmute any force which does not recognise love, the infinite nature of life, the sacred power of nature - or which threatens the continuity of the human species on this planet.

Taktsang Sange Samdup Cave, Tiger's Nest (སྤ་གྲོ་སྟག་ཚང), Paro Valley.
The climb was ever upwards but it was more the beautiful waters and forests, than even the cave we finally came to at the top. Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of one of his consorts, Yeshe Tsogyal, who assumed the form of a tiger. Milarepa, Machig Labdron - they all meditated in these craggy heights. The whole mountain is like a self-aware crystal, containing everyone, all consciousness, within it. Neither eating nor drinking was possible. My body would not accept it. Time stood still and after an incredibly early start, slowly the sun rose in the sky:
Remember! There is nobody to worship! There is no external enemy! Just be still and see it all. Everything and anything can be released in the light of your own being which will then see you spontaneously materialise the right action!
Much love x
